Well no one told me you shouldn't adjust the date on an automatic watch when the hands are between 9.00 and 3.00 and consequently the date winder on my Breitling for Bentley 6.75 has stopped working. My first automatic and I didn't read the instructions so totally my own fault.

Does anyone have an idea how much Breitling charge to fix what I expect is a relatively common issue or could I get it repaired at an independent specialist?

Many thanks.

I would take it back to the shop you bought it from and say something along the lines of "there appears to be something wrong with the date function on this watch". When asked if you tried to change the date between 8-9 and 12pm say "no" and it should be repaired free of charge

Exactly this, I made the same mistake with my Navitmer World. It went back to Breitling to be repaired , it took 12 weeks though to come back!!

Great to see people encouraging others to take responsibility for their own actions... rolleyes

Whilst I thank the previous respondents for their replies it's not exactly my style; hence why I was asking about cost.

Breitling will take your pants down and xxxxx you, probably.

It's worth getting a quote from them, but it's also worth talking to Joe at Anglesey Watch and Clock (Variotmatic on here) and ask his view. (Or other recommended independents.)

Joe's opinion and subsequent service saved me over £900.

Did you buy from an AD if so and he did not mention this take it back and see if he will get it repaired on good will, it is certainly worth a try.
