I've been offered a new Avenger II at a decent price. Never had a Breitling before as I've previously viewed them as being a bit chav. What are other people's thoughts on the brand?

That model is not one of my favourites, I wouldn't say it's 'chavvy' but it's very big and very showy and very macho...but if you like it go for it. Who cares what other people think? Just make sure you try it on first!

Hi, I hope by decent price you mean a minimum of 25% discount?

Avengers were great quailty / value when you could buy one new for £2-2.7k depending on model

Polished ones can be toned down with a rubber strap and push button clasp

I think now it's down to whether it does anything for you?

I think 40% will probably allow you to have it and sell it for slightly less, do you REALLY like it? If not I don't think there's any point!

Didn't you want a Deepsea?

Got a Deepsea and a 114060. Not sure what this will add to the collection to be honest.

I've seen several posts regarding Breitling service charges (mahoosively expensive) and quality (lack of)

From someone who has just retired one from a daily wearer to odd day wearer

5yrs old now and still looks and keeps time like new
I'd say go for it biggrin

If you go by what the Internet thinks then literally everything is deemed to be 'chav' by one person or another.

I think the "horn" needs to come first, if your not sure maybe wait till something does comes along, no point getting a great deal on someting you don't love

If you regularly swap between the Deepsea and the Avenger when you put the 114060 on it will feel offputtingly small, which it isn't but will feel it!

I'm saying this as someone who has had 6 Avengers since 2003 and is now down to 2 which are now both for sale!

If it doesn't make you say wow! Then save the cash for something that will.

I'm not sure about chav, but some of them are more shiny than a very, very shiny thing.

I've got my chrono-matic on now and that's relatively subdued.

The Bentley stuff is very bling.

Other than looking totally ridiculous on your right wrist, I love that model.

The Seawolf above is the best looking IMO, however Breitling have always been overpriced for a stainless steel watch with generic ETA movement

They had a rapid series of price hikes a few years ago (6ish years ago) at one point I think they had 2 in one year, that finished it for me!

Not chav IMO, but then I wear one daily.

Stop caring what people think and buy what you like.

I have a bit of a soft spot for Breitling as I was never into watches until a few years ago and I saw someone wearing a Navitimer and after talking to him about it, I started to get the bug. A lot of their range isn't my taste but I can't walk past a jewellers now without stopping and gawping at the Transocean on mesh. Like most brands, they make some pieces that I love and some I don't.
