I'm sure this has been asked before, but what methods do people use when sending a watch through the post?

RMSD insured up to £2.5k.

Thanks for that, but what if the value is higher?

You used to be able to use parcelpro, but I believe that's gone now. To be honest, I've sent £10k watches to people with RMSD without worrying. It would have to be a very honest recipient though!

Thanks again for the advice. To be honest, it's not the recipient I'm concerned about but the carrier losing or damaging it.

The last Rolex I sold I got on a train and met the buyer at Euston. It was several thousand quid and worth a day of my time.

I can see how in that situation this would be a sensible method, but in my case I'm sending it for servicing/repair.

Totally understand. I was nervous first time, but well known dealer assured me that he had been sending jewellery worth £50k+ for years using standard RMSD. Do you feel lucky?

laugh Got to love the timeless words of Dirty Harry. I guess I shall have to take a deep breath and trust in good old RM.

I would contact the dealer you are sending it to and ask them how they are sending the watch back and follow their lead.
