I sold one recently to Dom, fair price and completely hassle free sale.

No problem. I spoke with Dom but at the time he couldn't match the price iconic watches offered.

I used Watchfinder, no issues at all.

Didn't find Watchfinder's offers particularly generous tbh. In fact unrealistically low. But I think that's linked to their opinion of how fast they can resell the watch, so offers on fast-movers might be very much more realistic and generous.

Also Chrono24 but I have no personal experience. Believe it's a flat fee around 3pc

Are you going to be buying another watch?

If so, consider p/ex-ing against the new one. My recent experience is that you'll get more that way than selling outright.

My recent trades were two Rolexes (DJ26 & DJ36) against a DJ31, and one (Sub Date) against a DJ41.

But again, I think you probably got a decent deal because what you were trading in was easy to flip....

That's true, it is, so your advice is good. Hardly think which model really matters although some are clearly more highly demanded than others. But the universal popularity of the brand (with very few model exceptions) means it'll always be welcomed as a trade in and always likely to attract the better offers from dealers.

Over on TZ some very good watches go on offer. But it's really only the Rolexes that sell literally within a couple of minutes of being offered. Right now certain Subs and Daytonas are snapped up as soon as they appear on SC.

My own selling experience bears this out. The rolexes were gone - and at very good prices - via enquirers who heard I was selling the collection long long before the other timepieces even went on the market.

That Rolex brand is wholly unique.

Rolex Day Date, 18ct Gold

Watchfinder have offered the most so far, has anybody had any experience of them, like do they honour the price or do they try and reduce their offer?

Obviously they'll want to inspect it, but they've probably given you the parameters of their offer subject to that inspection. Unless your watch on inspection falls far below your description of it then you can be confident they'll pay within the spectrum of what they've offered.
