Anyone going? Any good?

Haven't been before but got invited to the opening bash on thursday.

I suspect it will make me feel very, very, poor.

I went last year, and will probably go this year.
Free booze and nibbles and a good chance to see perhaps lesser known brands.
Really enjoyed talking to Kari Voutilainen about his watch making.

Does get busy though.

I did. A most pleasant evening.

The astronomical display was lovely, and I discovered Robert Loomes whom I was previously ignorant of. Absolutely beautiful watches. However, the hw I tried on was £48,000...

Good, I managed to get a last minute ticket so made it too. I discovered Lonville, a resurrected marque from the 1950's. In particular this 18ct white gold GMT...

The owner Joost, is a proper petrolhead. He runs a tour each year, and drives a C-type!

Also liked the Joker by Konstantin Chaykin

This was superbly made too, the Tourbillon Petite Seconde Retrograde by Schwarz-Etienne

It was a good night, though I fear I may have taken advantage of the complimentary bar to my cost....

Took a trip to Salon QP yesterday.

Too few exhibitors compared to previous years & too many bling / footballers watches amongst them for my liking.

Schwarz Eteinne had some interesting designs. The Roswell Voyage did catch my eye - not too big despite the 45mm case size, but I didn't like it enough to pay £6k, let alone £14k.

There were some horrific watches from Clerc, Jacob & Co, U-Boat amongst others.

The MB&F & Urwerk's were amazingly well engineered, but mental as you'd expect.

Highlights for me were the Lange 1 blue dial and the Nomos Metro.

A couple of the Scofields were pretty cool & I quite liked the Reservoir GT Tour

£3,650 is not too bad for a low volume Retrograde Minute, Jumping Hour watch with date & power reserve.

I couldn't get into the Reservoir style, but you're right - it's an interesting set of complications for that money. Similarly impressed by Nomos, they too are coming up with some proper movement fettling and, like Habring², show it doesn't have to break the bank.

I'd never heard of Reservoir until a couple of weeks ago, I quite like them, I can imagine looking at it intensely for the last 3 minutes of every hour though!
