My dads a clockmaker in his spare time. He’s got loads of reference books etc, so he might be able to help identify it for you. Your welcome to pm me and I’ll pass your details on to him. Probably easier if he tells you what he would need to see to help him identity it.
Thanks - will do.Looks like a standard French visible escapement "drum" movement with the addition of calendar work. Any pics of the movement?
I've been "into" clocks for 30+ years (repairing them as a business for over 20 years), never seen one before. A bit of googling throws up quite a few examples, but not much detail on how the calendar works. From what I can see, an extra wheel on the clock movement trips a lever on the calendar mechanism once a day.
There are a few for sale, and the prices were a surprise. Without the calendar mechanism, a clock like this in perfect order would sell for maybe £200 to £400. With the calendar, the asking prices are in the £ thousands.
Does your one compensate for leap years? That feature puts the price up even higher.

Interesting. I have a very similar one. I did not know it was French. I t keeps very good time. It is in a temporary homemade case at the moment. I am on the lookout for a movement-less case to rehouse it.

When I say temporary,it has actually been in it for at least seventy years,my father made it out of a cigar box when he was a teenager!

It’s not mine, it’s my father-in-laws, will ask about the leap year... and for a photo of the movement.I've been "into" clocks for 30+ years (repairing them as a business for over 20 years), never seen one before.
