Burlington Arcade
Was just about to suggest the same. There's one particular shop that, from memory, has plenty on display in date order - very much tourist prices, though. The Burlington Arcade and the immediate surrounding area is great for window shopping, check out nearby Marcus for some jaw dropping modern pieces.
Do Burlington then:

Or vice-versa. WoS is all very retail but get a glass of Champagne and see a lot of the main brands in one very calm nice setting. Always found the staff to be excellent - obviously trying to sell you things but ver y accomodating.

Cheers guys. Open on a Sunday?? What about Bond Street?
Sundays are good
Start at the Piccadily end of the Burlington Arcade and then walk up New Bond Street to Oxford Street, turn left and walk up to Selfridges stopping at WoS on the way. Always found the staff in Selfridges to be helpful and have tried on some great watches there, they have quite a selection. The Harrods "Watch Room" (I think it's called that) is another place worthy of a stop.Sunday’s are terrible for looking at watches. All the vintage Rolex shops in Burlington arcade was closed. No Rolex boutique or Rolex dealer had a steel Daytona to even look at. The Rolex boutique in Nightsbridge had the best selection of gold, rose gold and white gold Daytona’s. i didn’t see many steel sports models either. It made me feel very lucky to have my Sea Dweller 43m.....
I still want a Daytona!

There does seem to be a "steel drought" in London at the moment!I still want a Daytona!
Please don’t apologise Cardshark. I was in London anyway. I will need to make arrangements for a visit during the week. However all the staff in the stores were more than friendly and helpful.
Interesting conversation with one of the dealers telling me he had to “push” the sale of a Daytona three years ago. My timing with cars and watches are all wrong.

Sorry I didn't see this before today, it always amazes me that they are all closed on Sundays!
You could have popped into WOS on Regent St and counted how many staff greet you and try to ask you how you are as sincerely as possible, which isn't very sincere but it would have been EVERY SINGLE one of them!
