I am up for renewal next month and currently with Bradford & Bingley, I do not think they are any good but I had real trouble getting someone to insure my watch last time.

Any reccomendations? £5450.00 list price Sub ND.

Bearing in mind I am 26 years old.

Hope someone has a good specialist company they use?

You won't need a specialist company to insure a Sub - just add it as a specified item on the existing contents insurance

B&B were fine with us when we only had a couple of watches

Thanks.

Struggled last year when I was 25, B&B only one who was interested.

Will give the above a go.

^^ this. Not sure why your age is relevant at all.

I added my Omega and my Wife's Rolex on our house policy (Tesco insurance). They only charged a small amount for both (less than £40 IIRC) and they were much cheaper than last years insurer (where the watches were not on the policy), even with the watches added on.

Try M&S, underwritten by one of the big players, have a very decent single article limit that will more than cover a Sub.

As above. Was with M&S and they had a single item cover of £10K. Now with Hastings due to a more competitive premium, but single item cover is down to £7K.

I’m with axa, they’ve got 3 different levels of cover from which you can choose, the middle level that I have covers a single item up to £10k - which, weirdly enough, covers me - a 26-year-old with a list price no-date sub.

When I was doing price comparisons, a few companies let me list the watch as a ‘high risk valuable’ and it bumped the price by a few pounds in my circumstance. I know insurance is rather a postcode lottery these days.

Me neither, I don't work for an insurance company, they just said they would not insure me due to my age last year when I was 25 and only B&B did.

Hiscox.

Not the cheapest, but good cover for watch collectors because you don't need to notify anything under £15k

but you do need to give them a total value of jewelry and watches, and specify any single item over 15k...

Anything over 15k they will add terms that it needs to be on your wrist or in a safe to be covered.

Seems fairly comprehensive cover too, round the world etc

I would definitely recommend Tesco Bank Home Insurance.
Talk to them over the phone rather than using their site, they are very good and definitely competitive.
I'm not a fan of specialist watch insurance companies. Just a waste of time and money.

I have over 40 watches.
All insured with Tesco, as individual items on my Home insurance.
Also have them insuring my safe as a whole for an agreed value, which contains the highest value items.
They are also covered away from home anywhere in the world, whether being worn or simply transported. (ie holidays, etc)

When ive asked around, I pay around £100 more annually than most peoples average price.

As mentioned above, do check the wording of your policy....

We were burgled a few years back and, despite having the platinum 5 star policy the insurers pointed be to clause 241 sub section IV that 'items of a precious metal, unless being handled, must be kept in a strongroom'. Soooo, teaspoons, golf trophies (very few) etc? Also I was not required to have a safe or asked about it when taking the policy out. They refused to pay, I sued and won.

Bit of a ramble - but just to make the point about checking the wording carefully.
