My first Swiss Cheese. Tag Heuer Formula 1
Discussion
Well after much searching and deliberating, I finally settled on my first (relatively to some people) premium watch.
I've had a lot of £50 to £200 watches, but with my wedding coming up i finally was able to justify the purchase of a Tag.
I've always liked the formula 1 and as soon as I saw this, fell in love. The colour scheme is exactly what I wanted and Vs the RRP on the tag website, I got nearly £400 off. I have only seen the ceramic two tone strap version for sale in the UK. Purchased through Chronext. Took 3 weeks but expected this, I know of three successful purchases now so can definitely recommend.
I am perfectly happy having a quartz, and I'm chuffed with the overall finish on the product.
Obligatory instagram-esque car steering wheel badge brag (you can't tell it's a diesel):

t mate. Lol, nah, looks a lovely thing. How come you ended up with a quartz rather than an automatic in the end?
Cheers guys. I went for a quartz purely on price and look. Out of the Tag range at sub £1,600 this was my favourite watch looks wise. It is exactly what I wanted. I almost went for the aquaracer calibre 5 but in the flesh I felt the F1 was more me. And...added bonus of the price. I paid a little over 1k. Tag RRP is £1400, managed to find a tidy discount code for chronext! The same watch with ceramic band in the strap is £1600 on the high street.
I'll be wearing it nearly every day so hopefully stands the test of time like the above !

That's a fantastic looking watch!
Never understood the snobbishness toward Tag. My first 'proper' watch was a quartz Tag Heuer Professional 1000 nearly 30 years ago and it's still going strong. I've just bought my son one for his 21st because for around £1,000 I don't think there is anything to touch them for quality, style and brand image (which we might 'all be above', but actually it was great for him that he got a watch that most people recognise as a quality watch compared to, say, an Oris or a Stowa which are good watches, but for him who's not into watches, might as well be a Sekonda).
It's not a Rolex but he loves it and (if mine is anything to go by) it'll last him for ever.

Thanks both. I definitely want to update the wardrobe so to speak and retire some of my other watches!
If you don't already , subscribe to the r/watches sub on Reddit. Some incredible stuff on there from brands you would otherwise not know would exist. A steinhart or Seiko is probably next.

I think every collection should have a Tag F1 in it, I love mine (really like the look of yours too).
Also for me it was my first foray into the world of ‘expensive’ watches.
Being a novice at the time I paid full retail for mine!
You can read how I came about buying it here:
