A replacement for this.
It finally died on me after about 30 years use. Don't think it's the battery as a new battery went in not that long ago. LCD display went a while ago. It's just been used in the gym, or in the garden or when working on the car so as not to scratch one of my other watches.
Any recommendations? Something similar looking, nothing too expensive, and I don't like G-Shock!

Another casio, but no LCD. Well regarded these, cheap and cheerful.

I know you don't like G-Shocks, but this isn't big or gawdy, and is one of the best and certainly cheapest watches I own. Solar, radio controlled so incredibly accurate, and bullet proof.

This is about as close as you'll get to your old one:

I think it'd have died due to polymer degradation of the plastics in the quartz movement. Oxidation and loss of hydrogen can make plastics quite brittle after 30 years. Happens to car electronics and wiring as well - once they get to 20 years old there's a constant string of things failing. It finally died on me after about 30 years use. As it's a 'cheap daily driver' why not go to Argos and impulse buy whatever looks good.
