I have recently been toying with the idea of slimming down my collection of lower end watches (high priced for me though) and using it to fund a Speedmaster Moonwatch or Speedmaster FOIS and having one "nice watch", a beater and a dress watch.

I am flying to Canada next month and was wondering whether it was actually worth buying a watch at the airport. They seem to be a shade under £3k for a Speedmaster when I looked online.

I would be looking to but then sell the others when I get back, or are there better channels / ways. I've never really looked at buying a watch at the airport as I've never been able to afford one.

I know the price of a Speedy at Heathrow and they are offering good deals, however as per the forum norm I'd suggest having a chat to Dom first. I spoke to him last year about the same watch and he came up with a better price on a new one. Unfortunately I couldn't go ahead in the end but he was a pleasure to deal with and has some great prices.

Thanks, I've always been interested in whether buying a watch from the airport actually saved you any money or not.

I have an email from Dom, so will see what he says.

At the end of the day it does come down to SWMBO, but I do really fancy a Speedy and have come to the conclusion that my "collection" isn't really doing much in a box and I would prefer fewer nicer watches.

Update:

Some watches on sale.

Pulled the trigger on the Moonwatch! Never thought I would ever be able to buy one.

Thanks for DomH for his advice and service. Picking it up next week.
