Gifting Watches
Discussion
It seems that in the watch community the idea of gifting or giving a watch to someone who would appreciate it is a thing. I've heard it mentioned on TGV The Urban Gentry channel on YT (divisive YT'er?) and a few other places and quite like the thought of it. it seems for much of the community watches are something to be appreciated and cherished but often tastes change or your collection becomes too large to be practical (no that they take up too much space but rather some pieces just end up sitting in a draw etc) and it's then time to think about moving them on.
The obvious thing would be to sell to recoup some money for the next purchase but unlike many other past times the want to give something you've enjoyed to someone else is there.
2 cases in point for me was very recently I put my first proper watch purchase; a Raketa mechanical on a milanese bracelet and instantly thought it feminised the watch a little too much for my taste. the OH really liked it so - I passed it on to her as she loves it, it looks far better on her than it does me. Giving a watch to a partner is not too much of a stretch I know. Secondly I'm considering giving a green dialled Vostok I really like to one of my friends as he's expressed how much he likes it and has never been into watches before, I think he'd appreciate the gesture and I'd like to see it being worn than again sat in a draw most of the time.
TL:DR Do you gift watches or think sod that I ain't giving my watches away to no one mate ..

If someone you know likes it and it didn't cost you too much initially I don't see a problem with it. Had a bronze flieger I gave to a pal who wanted a new watch which didn't cost me too much. He likes it, I didn't wear it, so best of both worlds. He just needed to get a new strap for it, helped him fit it and that was that.
If it's something which cost me a bit more and I knew I could make some money back I might think twice.
