Hi -

Looking for a watch as a gift for my son. He likes divers watches and likes the Seiko SKX007/9 range but I think these are too big for him. I wondered if the Seiko 5 sports is smaller ? and a worthwhile first automatic watch ?
If so - can you tell me the difference between these two (other than price ? )

The J has "23 Jewels" written on the face (and commands a matching premium) whereas the K doesn't (which is the same story with SKX007/09 variants).

For a smaller version of the SKX007, have a look for an SKX013.

ETA: Just realised both pics have "23 Jewels" on them so maybe I'm wrong on the first part!

I’ve looked for an SKX013 but I need it within a week (!) so I’ve limited options.

The SKX009 on jubilee / rubber looks the part (though suspect might end up on a nato strap) for a sixteen year old and watching the other threads about Rolex / Tudo Pepsi it looks bang on trend but I’m worried the watch is too big, and too similar to my SKX007.

Does any know size of the 5 sports watch ? And any reviews ?

Thanks

I bought a couple of watches for my teenage son - none of which he wore. Eventually a Casio G Shock hit the spot and he never takes it off.

J is made in Japan, K is made elsewhere.
J models are always a bit more expensive.
