Is my Submariner running too slow?
Discussion
I thought to myself ‘what does the PH watch section need? Another Rolex thread!’
I’ve had my PH staple ceramic Sub for about 18 months or so - and recently I’ve noticed it losing time quicker than before, so I’ve kept track of it for 2 weeks.
In that time it has lost 74 seconds (according to www.time.is ) which, so my calculator says, is 5.28 seconds per day.
Obviously this is well outside of the +/- 2 second COSC rating and even outside the +6/-4 I’ve heard dotted about a few times, so in the opinion of the PH watch experts, does this need sorting?
For reference, the watch has never been dropped or bashed, and I have a fairly manual job so is wound very well as a result, the only possible cause I can think of is that I take the watch off when I sleep.
Now, 5-and-a-bit seconds is hardly a disaster and I’m not going to break down the doors of my AD and demand I get compensation immediately - it’s just a bit irksome (and if I can get it regulated under warranty, it’s better than paying for a service, surely!)
Answers on a postcard, please! (as long as someone doesn’t mention quartz...)

I'm pretty sure COSC standards are -4 / +6 seconds per day average, but that Rolex's own standards are -2 / +2

Thanks for the clarifying link - looks like I’ll be waddling into the AD at some point soon. I wonder if I can get that white gold GMT as compensation https://www.ablogtowatch.com/rolex-extends-stringe...

Lie it flat at night, not on its side.
It’s always face up, although I have to put it on my wallet or similar otherwise I can hear it ticking when on my bedside table
Solid advice, though, I did recently read that one can effectively ‘self-regulate’ a watch by keeping it in specific positions.
I suppose this means that the watch is catching up some of its time overnight, and is otherwise running even slower without that...
