I've been reducing the collection and moved some watches on via various methods,

PX to store on purchase of another (maybe not relevant to you) offered more than I thought was watches value (allowing for stores need to pay wages.rent etc)
Watchfinder, Offered slightly less than my valuation (again allowing for their costs) They marked up at 50% over what I received, I was also surprised by the time taken to authenticate watch and then again in bank transferring funds … but despite delay the process was painless
Watch auction via auction house, Watch failed to make reserve but top bidder kept offer on table and auction house reduced fee's for a sale, Easy transaction and fees arrived quicker than WF
,e-Bay ...jeez the amount of dross communication (I've done several watches of differing value and all have had chancers offering 50% or more less than value .. chancers) if you can see past these then again the watch go's, My most expensive watches either I've personally delivered or got the bidder to view and discuss price over a cuppa, both positive experiences but it's a risk achieving the value you want, I've got x2 £100 x1 £30 & x1 £1k watch to go in 2019 & all will go onto e-Bay but I'll expect to have the £1k remaining with no takers

Just my experiences

Try Dom Hackett and Hackett watches.

I had some bits and bobs to move on recently, he was within 3% of the best quote and offered a swift service.

I nearly traded one of my more expensive watches in with them

They made a reasonable offer, probably within 10% of what they could market it for....and discounted the watch I was after a significant amount which all in all would have got the market value of the trade in (if that makes sense?)

The stumbling block came when their agent couldn't/wouldn't explain exactly what 'tests' they needed to do on my watch. Clearly they wanted to make sure it wasn't fake but at one point he was suggested opening it up (its a sapphire caseback) and when I told him that he just started blustering which didn't instill me with any confidence at all...

I offered them my brand new in box Tudor GMT complete with stickers and warranty card without a name on it. They had 2 up for sale both without stickers for 4k, they offered me £1800 for it.

I kept it instead and have been wearing it with pride.

They may have had another ten in stock.

Might of done, only showed 2 online at the time.

Anyway I made the right choice, GMT was worth keeping in the end.

It's common for dealers to have more stock than they list. If they listed 10 you'd perceive there was no exclusivity.

I have literally just sold my 2008 Tag Heuer Aquaracer Chronograph to Watchfinder. After the initial uploading pics and filling in the details they offered me an initial estimate of £600-700. I then dropped the watch off to them at Bluewater and it was sent for testing and checking. I received a final valuation of £700 which I was happy with (bracelet and box were a bit scruffy) and got the money paid in my bank account today no problems and all very professional. No ebay or PayPal fees as well which is a big factor now.
