Is there anything to watch out for?

We're looking at a www watch that my wife quite likes, I am a little worried as it's from a private seller in another country.

The seller has provided extra pictures of the watch, but does chrono24 provide any cover for a private sale, or are we relying on the sellers goodwill?

Thanks

I’ve done it and it was fine.

Do your due diligence of course and calculate the risk.

They hold your funds until you have received the watch and confirmed all is in order. Not sure how good they are if there is an issue however.

Bought a Ball Telemeter watch advertised as unworn condition,

Asked for some specific photo's which the seller provided

Paid through the Chrono24 site

Received the watch speedily and found it completely as advertised,

Do due diligence but the one purchase I have made was a positive one

I bought a watch from a private seller in Italy through Chrono24 recently and it all went very smoothly. The escrow service gives some extra protection. They don't release the funds to the seller until you confirm that you're happy with the watch.

OK how to do due diligence?

We have plenty if pics and the watch looks good, is it a case of finding someone to email the pics to, or take it somewhere when we get the waych to check it is what it says it is?

Thanks

As you would with any other purchase some would say: pay by credit card; ask for photos of it showing a specific time; have they got history of selling previously; ask if it’s a genuine watch; and go with your gut. Good luck!

Buying through Chrono24 takes quite a bit of this away.

Yes, not much need for that as the buyer controls when the funds are released i.e. after you've received the watch.

I've bought a watch from Germany on there and it was a very easy process.

I was unsure about buying on their too so made a small purchase of a Breil at £72 from Italy then bought a new watch from a shop in Germany and had no issues with either.

Did not use the Chrono24 buying service but would if I was spending anything over £500.

Not sure if this helps?

i sold on Chrono24 with no probs. Buyer was in Germany. When he received watch I had to ask him to click on received and then funds landed in my account a few days later. A little slow but all good.

I have sold an IWC on Chrono24. I am in the US and the watch ended up in Switzerland. I would say, as a seller, the costs of Chrono24 are high but so are the sales prices so it nets out. They do offer the escrow account which protects the buyer but not sure about the seller.
