Have been looking for a replacement watch for a while now and having just got a Christopher Ward recently for occasions, I wanted a new everyday chrono style for casual

Budget around the 300 mark but I saw the Citizen Eco and decided on this

Lots of good features and the solar charge will be handy, apparently accurate time also

Anybody else own a Citizen Eco Drive, good or bad experiences?

Had a couple. Been good overall though one has stopped working - I suspect a failed capacitor. Not too bad give it's 10 years old I'd guess.

Yes, I have the Red Arrows limited Edition watch, and I love it. I have had it almost a year, looks good, feels good, and it keeps excellent time, so much so, I never have to adjust it! I bought it as an everyday watch, and really I have it on all the time. Good choice you made!!

I have two and love them. The solar panels don't look like they do on solar things which makes them even more impressive.

My friend took hers up Everest. It was a ladies dress watch, too. Looks fked, though!

Yes, the Red Arrows Editions are lovely also, had been eyeing those up if i couldnt pick this one up

There is an alternative model (AT4008-51E) that comes with the stainless steel bracelet that i was initially looking at, but after reading some reviews, the other model comes with slight red detailing and with a black bezel with white numbering on it and apparently after around a years use the numbering on this model (raised i presume) becomes faded and makes the watch look tatty and older. After reading this i noticed the one i have now chosen comes with the alternative leather strap, but the face doesnt have the small red details within it and the bezel on this model (AT4000-02E) is stainless with black numbering that doesnt have this issue, i also prefer it to the black one now. I intend to buy the Citizen stainless bracelet and have that fitted to have the best of both worlds.

All reviews are positive other than the odd one with same issue after around ten years and having capacitors changed, if it lasts as long then i'll be happy with it

I have two Eco-Drive watches,

Both live on the window-sill ready for immediate wrist action,

Both are years old and are working perfectly

Yes, I have one.... this is my 'holiday' watch and I really like it. A perpetual calendar, atomic clock accuracy, easy world time adjustment, waterproof... never needs a battery. I rarely wear it as it's only for travelling, but when I do I really appreciate how clever it is. Never had any issues with it. I think they're great watches.

Nothing flash, a C7 Rapide mk2, I really like them, got a second black leather strap with the orange stitch also to change it one day and add a bit of colour

I did see one of these when looking, very nice also, and the perpetual calendar and atomic updates will be handy, the way an everyday watch should be, less faffing about adjusting it

You're right - but I am still wed to Swiss made mechanical watches. Which is odd really as the Citizen, as you say, does absolutely everything you could possibly need!

Your watch will be a perpetual calendar too.

Yes, that's what I meant, both have similar features and pretty accurate according to reviews

The Swiss would still be the evenings and occasions I would imagine, and something like a Citizen for everyday duties, best of both worlds
