I took my Omega Speedmaster Automatic for a service back in November, a place in Hatton Garden. No complaints with the service and everything seemed to go well.

However over Christmas I was at my work party and noticed the top pusher had fallen out, pin and all! Very weird but I thought it was just unfortunate and these things happen. I put the watch back in the drawer and wore something else, but this week I was working from home so thought I'd wear it in the house just to give some wrist time.

I was just working my laptop and the other pusher and spring just came loose, the pin still seems attached this time. I wasn't intentionally touching it so it may have been my cuff, either way this is way too much of a coincidence surely?

Does anyone know on the automatic Speedmaster range whether the pushers are screwed on the movement side or just held on with loctite or similar? I'm wondering if this is pure bad luck or something they missed during reassembly.

Obviously I'll speak to the shop that did the service it but if anyone has any advice it'll be appreciated.

The Speedmaster pushers are screwed together, with the inside bit having a lip so that the whole assembly can't drop out. For them to fall apart in the way you mention I'm guessing that the screw threads had some oil on them - most likely movement lubricating oil on the chaps fingers from when he'd just lubricated the movement.

I suggest going back and asking them to do it properly this time. Dry threads with a dab of threadlock on them.

Thank you! I'll take it back to the shop.
