I am thinking specifically the monoblock cased 1000/1500 from the 70s.

Has anyone got one? What are they like to live with? Are there many fakes about? Does anyone know of a decent guide to models etc?

Also they all seem to come from Italy, is that still an iffy proposition with postal services etc?

Anything from Europe (or anywhere in the world) is an iffy proposition if it comes via national postal services. They seem to delight in holding things for days or weeks and asking lots of silly questions. However, anything from Europe or the world coming via one of the courier services like Fedex or DHL is bullet fast and super smooth.
