Now I usually pour scorn on ostentatious modern expensive watches etc
We all know powerfully built PH directors with pots of cash love them.
Personally I don't like them, but live and let live etc, so no offence intended.
But as someone with a great interest in science/mechanics, I fully appreciate the skills etc and genius of the master craftsmen who created elegant mechanical timepieces in years gone by. In fact i do sometimes consider buying an old mechanical hand made pocket watch.
We all know about our own horological hero Harrison and his chronometers, well worthy of our high praise and admiration.
I love looking at his masterpieces at the Greenwich observatory.. Trying to explain their historical significance to others can be trying at times.
But I didn't really know anything about Nicholas Breguet.
Almost as old as the watch itself, Nicholas Parsons, a very sprightly 92 years old when the quality BBC program was made in 2016, tells us the intriguing story of Breguet and his watches.
Well worth watching on i-player if you excuse the pun, for all those interested.
