Confession time!

I'm not into watches, I'm afraid. I don't even wear a watch 90% of the time, but I have inherited my uncles omega. I actually like it as well. It's not big or glitzy, which suits me.

I think the battery has died, so do I have to take it to an omega specialist or can any jeweller do this?

It's not worth a fortune. He paid £660 for it about 10 years ago, as I have the original box, receipt and warranty card.

Thanks and apologies if this is a daft question. smile

If you go to a Omega dealer then the will probably want to send it for a service which will cost £00s!
Just go to some local guy and he will do it for a few quid if that’s why it’s not going!

There are plenty of omega service centres across the uk.
Any of those will be happy to put a battery in it and test it to make sure it’s working well.
Watch lab, any Goldsmiths/mappin/wos ( with a watchmaker in store)
Not sure who your closest independent is? But joe in Anglesey is highly recommended.
It’s worth looking after it, as the cost of repair will be vast if you just get a cheap battery somewhere and it goes wrong down the line.

Joe replaced mine (and repaired the quartz movement).

Don’t try it yourself, there are two mini screws on the battery keeper that will ping off and disappear.
