I blame you lot! Having lurked on Pistonheads for years due to a life long interest in cars/motorsport one thing let to another and I’ve been led astray by this part of the forum and have caught the watch bug. Due to having Omega Moonwatch tastes alongside a Bulova Moonwatch budget I have tried my hand at modding a Seiko while my tastes/budget realign!

Amazon tools and a used Seiko SNK809 (great little watch with an automatic movement and display case back, well suited to my watch preferences and girlie wrists)

Custom dial, domed crystal and hands

Finished watch on a grey Nato with a slightly polished case.

I printed a sticker to cover the dial (Iarla is my 8 month old sons name, it’s an old Irish name, pronounced Ear-lah). It was all very simple and rewarding, and highly recommended if you’re thinking of giving it a go

Well done that man! There's something special about a personalised watch. You've done a great job. How was fitting the second hand? I always find that the hardest bit. Especially if it's a replacement.

Thanks Fallingup, the hands were OK but the press I got was very bad quality when it came to doing the job, I definitely wouldn’t like to have been trying it out on a more valuable watch!

I hear you. I gave up using the press and just used the punch part of it. Felt it gave more control doing it by hand. And a wee dram helped to steady the nerves wink

Where did you order the Seiko 5 parts?

Almost everything I find on Google is for SKX mods and I'd like to customise a little Seiko 5 for my son.

I got them from Dagaz and DLW (not sure how to insert the links on my phone but a quick google should find them), the parts were slow arriving but all were good quality and fitted perfectly etc.
