Just mulling the virtues of the Omega 'Goodplanet' GMT or the Seiko Spring Drive GMT... I am erring on the Omega side.

Love the concept of something different like the GS, but the PO is just better looking to my eyes.

Both interesting movement technologies, but my pick is the Grand Seiko - the finishing will be in a different league, and constantly rewarding.

Plus, whilst I do like the Omega, I’ve personally never been a fan of their protruding Helium Escape Valve (but then again, I also don’t like the date position on the GS).

The Omega looks 'right' somehow.... but I love the finish of the Seiko - and the tech inside it is of great interest.

I will be buying one of them as I would like a GMT and this is the choice - but am very undecided.

I've had a 43.5mm PO it's a nice watch but for me the proportions height vs width are off, it's too tall for the width and length of the lugs and therefore can look top heavy.

The finishing/build quality and the movement are very good though.

I love the GS, but I can’t get past the ‘power reserve display’. Gopping.

I will be in the Omega Boutique tomorrow to see the Planet Ocean... If it doesn't feel too massive, I will probably buy it.

My current daily is a Patek which is very slim, so I'd like a contrasting watch. I felt very slightly underwhelmed by the Seiko when I tried it on - despite knowing about the technology and the polishing methods etc - it just didn't quite do it for me. I think the bracelet is a tad too narrow.

1st world issues. Obviously.

The Planet Ocean is a great choice. It is a bit on the chunky side, but it is rated to 600m.

For me the ceramic dial and bezel were the decider, it really is a properly good quality watch.

The GS to me at least doesn’t really do it, the Omega would be a safer purchase.

Gratuitous picture of my PO

I agree, other marques do without, there's just no need for it really and it looks awful. Ruins the Snowflake imo too.

Good work, that's a rather lovely watch (there wasn't really a wrong choice between the two). Good thread update & health to enjoy.

Thanks Pat - I always follow your posts with great interest, so appreciate your thumbs up smile

I do like the fact that this watch has a derivation of the Daniels’ co-axial moment. Also a proper GMT.

It ticks a few boxes.

I can't believe I've ever noticed the PO GMT- they're absolutely stunning, possibly my favourite GMT watch.
Definitely found its way onto my "wish list"!
