As per the title really. Just looking to get some ownership advice on the YM 40mm if possible?

I rarely read about them, but I dealer I'm in touch with recently offered me one of these. Looking at the pics, it looks pretty smart but I know that can change quickly when seen in the flesh.

Just curious if anyone out there has taken the plunge. This is what we are looking at.

Will be useful to try one and see. From the photos it looks great!

Yes , but mine is the newer Rhodium dial model.

Nice watch , not as easily recognisable compared to my Sub.

Very nice watch, regret selling mine, would buy another one for sure. What is the price of the one you've been offered?

I tried one on (Rhodium dial) last year along with a Sub. The Yachtmaster just felt much nicer on my wrist; the lugs are more elegant. Odd because it had never jumped out at me in pictures. The blue dial is lovely but when I take the plunger it'll be Rhodium.

They seemed as hard to find this year as other steel sports Rolexes, which wasn't the case last year.

It's a really good looking watch (love the black and gold) but I'm struggling to see the question to which a Yachtmaster is the answer. Does it offer any functionality beyond that of the submariner?

Love mine. Got 2 of them. One registered to my son when he was born 5 years ago and one for myself.

Thanks all.

Its not one I've been thinking about, so probably isn't right for me. I may go and try it though to see if thoughts are changed.

I've been in touch with this AD for almost a year and passed up on a GMT 2, (Black) that he had on display in December. Kind of kicking myself on that one as it's still a nice watch, but just wasn't quite right. However, if I was in the game of gaining a decent profit then it could have led me to something I wanted.

All I'm seaking is a watch that has some longevity, and that I can pass onto my son a few yrs down the line.

Price of the YM is just under 43,000aed, so about £9k with a stty exchange rate. Not great from what I can understand, but happy to be corrected

Tried one of the original YM on in Dubai many moons ago , got the salesman down to about £3300 iirc , hesitated and gave him it back , kicked myself for a few years afterwards.

Liked the blue dial but not enough to buy one though , but when I tried the Rhodium dial one I put a Panerai in px and paid about £4500 to change back home in England.

Never seen another one being worn yet , so I would have thought not so popular.

Nice watch though.

I have a blue faced one which I wear daily and like it a lot - bit more unusual than a sub if that's a good or bad thing

Nice idea to give to your child when they grow up, but if they are like mine they just think watches are for old men...

Typically I'm at an airport and they have the exact model on display. Tried it on and still none the wiser. I think it's almost perfect in my eyes but that bezel is chunky looking.

Blue dial all the way for me, really nice and quite a dated look with the platinum bezel-I don't class that as a bad thing by the way!

It will disappear from the line up eventually and as always with these sort of things, it'll probably gain the credit it deserves.

Thanks. Looking at the pictures, I'm tempted to say the same. The blue really works for me. I think the rhodium looks amazing too, but not enough to bite the bullet.

Both are available (for probably a short time), where I live and I may need to make a call on one.

The blue one although same RRP, I can buy for around £460 cheaper.

Just interested in this comment. Is it a newer model or just a colour option that was offered at later date?

I need to do my research

If you're buying new then they are just different dials on the same watch.

https://www.rolex.com/watches/configure.html#/yach...

The watch was recently upgraded with a new movement moving the model number from 116622 to 126622, I guess you'll want to make sure you know which model the AD is selling.

I believe (rightly or wrongly) that the blue dial has been discontinued and replaced with the Rhodium dial version . I have no idea if the watch movement is any different.

It’s all down to personal choice , pick the one you like.

Thanks for the tips and advice.

I've dug in further and found both watches are reference 116622, with the 3125 movement rather than the new 3235.

Apart from the extra 24hr power reserve on the new movement, I am not sure if the typical watch user will see the difference? Perhaps better magnetic protection too.

At last...a thread on this fabulous watch...

I’ve had one of these for 6 months...still thrilled with it...

Bought to replace a stolen Submariner..

Very different, very shiny and a little unusual.

Which did you go for and why (apart from replacing the Sub)?

Sorry to hear about that by the way
