I am sorry for asking this because. You know what I am going to ask already.

If I buy a 2019 watch at list (£7,150) am I likely to retain the "investment". Likely will only wear it to "events' like the opera or nice dinners out as I like my rare-ish Titanium Omega Seamaster for for "normal" and apple watch for every day so this is as much about having a nice watch as something that will gently rise in value with time.

Best flip it straight away I reckon. Have you been offered one? If so grab it fast.

Anyway, doubt you will lose on that ever.

Not really an Opera watch though. Haha

Suppose how long you keep it, my Sea Dweller cost me £200 in 79. Wear it daily.

If you can get one - or are being offered one, then buy it. Asking prices vary, but expect it to be worth £12-16K at grey market rates. No idea what it would be worth should you chop it straight in, but would be surprised if it were less than £10K so thats a very good investment if you can get one at list.

Good Luck finding one!

FWIW, I got a pepsi GMT in 2006 for £2800, probably worth about £8k at the moment although it would likely drop once the crazy demand for new ones dies down.

But wanting to buy a GMT at retail and being able to buy one are completely different things.

Funny isn’t it. As being able to buy one, and wanting to buy one on the grey market are also two completely different things (in my view!).

Yes exactly. The idea of paying about twice RRP just to get a 2019 model Pepsi seems crazy

Unless you've been on the list and the AD has called you to say yours has come in, you won't get one at rrp.
