dealer mark up - second hand rolex
Discussion
she likes the half stainless half gold one with the diamonds round the bezel as in https://www.mappinandwebb.com/Rolex-Lady+Datejust-...
Not necessarily that model - there seem to be lots of alternatives inc from other makers - we saw a Tag one on a recent trip.
I know my way round second hand car prices - or at least I think I do. But I havent a clue what happens to second hand Rolex and the like, what are the scams, what are the dealer mark ups and therefore negotiating margins. In other words, right now I am a mug waiting to be ripped off.
Help!

I think it's now considered more fashionable for women to wear the men's sized Rolex models, or at least the mid-sizes.
One of the style editors in the Times said that women wearing diminutive 'ladies' watches was now akin to the middle-aged 'twin set and pearls'. Also, some of the men's models may be a better investment.
As suggested, talk to Dom, or go on the TZ Forum and explain your predicament - usually lots of helpful advice there.

There are Rolex dealers and dealers that sell Rolexes. Make sure you get all the paperwork with it. I have a Yachtmaster I bought it because I liked it. It's worth more than I paid for it looking at sales on e bay and the like
I know a few people who have those blue face bi metal Subs.
The holy grail used to be the stainless steel daytona
Regular servicing is advised

The market for secondhand women’s watches is absolutely dire-
It’s 100% a buyers market so be prepared to bargain hard for a good discount.
Previously I’ve found the smallest models such as 28mm not only look rubbish but are also not particularly accurate......I’d get her indoors at least a 34mm model.

But you are throwing away an awful lot of money there...
For 15k there are some serious mid sized pieces out there. Think Patek Philippe, Caltrava etc...
And I would suggest not buying a 28mm as well.
