My lovely old F1 chronograph
Discussion
I've had this for many years and it's not been properly serviced for many years.
Time to give the old thing an overhaul. Its had a couple of battery changes by watch battery places and working is fine, just not perfectly.
So, looking for recommendations on who to send it to. Unless it's the only way, I didn't want to send it to the official service centre and would rather give someone else the business.
What's the collective view and recommendations?

Recently dug out my old Formula 1, had battery changed and still works. The chronograph F1's weren't around when i got my F1. Think i went through 5 of the plastic/rubber straps before getting the official metal strap. Looks tiny compared to a lot of modern watches. Not bad for something bought in 1987 though. Made to last.

I have a similar black model. Just a quick one, but apparently the rubber bumpers are part of the case.
So replacements are pretty pricey.
Mine has a off date quickset that only works 90% of the time. I’ve elected just to wear it until it dies.
Rubber bumpers? Just a bezel and case on mine.So replacements are pretty pricey.

The original straps are great but pricey. I found some on Ebay once upon a time but not more. I like its current strap. Its scratched and worn, the lume has gone but I want all that patination to stay. Think I'll get a service and reseal. I love it and yes, they are tiny compared to many others. I have a current F1 chronograph and side by side the orange one looks like a kids watch.
There was, and perhaps still is, a slightly disparaging view of the whole range, but I think the F1, in the early days especially, has proven to be a great, robust and stylish watch.

My mistake, I have the one with rubber sides that tend to dissolve over the years. The original straps are great but pricey. I found some on Ebay once upon a time but not more. I also have a new F1 and it is far bigger, but I do like the retro feel.
