Can anyone recommend a UK based set up to service a Hublot Big Bang King?

It’s keeping terrible time and needs a going over.

Thanks in advance

Sorry to say, but an official Hublot shop in the UK (I think there are two) is your best bet - expect Goldsmiths level of in-store service, but the watches do/did go back to Switzerland for a service where they seem to do a good job.

Thank you. I did pop into Goldsmiths but they seemed very vague on what’s what.

Plus they told me they would require a £500 dep from me before sending it off

Didn’t you think of trying Hublot’s own website or simply searching for hublot servicing uk (of which this will now become one of the hits!)?
Harrods and New Bond St are boutiques in London, which you can drop the watch off at, without having to pay a deposit.

I was looking for RECOMMENDATIONS from people on here , not what a internet search will bring up.

I’d have thought getting a ballpark figure from Hublot would’ve been the sensible approach first, then you can compare with any independents to see if there’s enough difference to not go with the manufacturer’s own servicing dept.

In what exact way is the timekeeping terrible?
Is it constantly fast by 30+ seconds per day? If so, then possibly the movement needs nothing more than demagnetised.
Should it need serviced, and for some reason you’re against simply using Hublot themselves, then you can discuss prices with Brendan Hoey (webwatchmaker.com)

Have you hand wound it 60 turns or more, for that, or are you getting it going then putting it on your wrist?
If the former, then likely that the mainspring is broken. If the latter, try the former, as it may indicate an auto winding issue.

60 turns in one sitting? No definitely not.

I tend to take it out of its case, wind 10 ish times give it a Nescafé type shake and put it on my wrist.

Happy to be told I’ve broken it laugh

Mainsprings failing, if indeed that is what is the problem, isn’t completely unheard of, but it is something that does happen – you’ve just been unfortunate.
Spoken to either of the boutiques yet about cost and timeframe?

I’ve only just got around to it, and have left a message with Bond Street to call me back.

Your diagnosis and pointers are much appreciated.

I’m dropping it into New Bond Street tomorrow.

Helpful chap there has said it’s £190 for a half service (£40 shipping) and they may be able to fix the mainspring under goodwill. It also comes back with a years warranty.

So many thanks for the suggestion!

And that, especially the mainspring element if it proves to be that, sounds like a good positive response. Good luck and be sure to post up; credit where due and all that.

Any pics of the watch BTW?
