I’d like another watch and like the green dial yellow gold Daytona

I appreciate it’s in demand

How long would I be looking at waiting from a dealer? I’ve asked my local chap but would appreciate it if anyone knows a dealer with a shorter waiting time. I’ve been quoted 2 years

Thanks

It's seemingly become that bit harder to obtain since the musician John Mayer declared it 'one to watch' (no pun intended) in an interview with the website 'Hodinkee': https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/25/fashion/a-rolex...

A Rolex Daytona Has Watch Collectors Green With Envy

The watch was released in 2017 and did not generate much demand initially. Then in March of this year, John Mayer, one of the entertainment business’s most prominent watch collectors, showed his off in Hodinkee’s “Talking Watches” web series, calling it “a sleeper hit.”

By April, authorized Rolex dealers ran through their supplies. Earlier this month, prices on the secondary market were running between $50,000 and $70,000.

“That was all it took,” said Paul Altieri, the chief executive of the Bob’s Watches, a leading online dealer of pre-owned Rolexes based in Newport Beach, Calif.

I don't know whether to be yet more bemused by this new tangent taken by the Daytona hype-train, or regretful that I didn't capitalise on it.

The new strategy is for the likes of Hodinkee to do a programme with these celebs, randomly pick a watch that was not hot and declare it a sleeper hit. Wait a few days, buy up tons of stock, release the video and profit. Rinse and repeat scratchchin
