New Omega (for me anyway)
Discussion
Currently in the market for a new watch to commemorate signing my life away.
Sorry, getting married...
Can't look past this and was after opinions/thoughts/reviews?

Personally, I’m not fond of various aesthetic aspects of the Seamaster (the exception being the more vintage-inspired black dial ‘300’ version with no HE valve), but it doesn’t prevent me from recognising that it’s a bit of a modern classic, well-specced & with some admirable technology inside. It’s a great everyday watch, and a solid choice.
Just be sure to try before you buy – at 42mm the current model is bigger than the old one and with ceramic used for the dial in addition to the bezel-insert, plus the bracelet's polished elements, they can look a bit ‘blingy’ & fussy (to my tastes anyway).
And as always with Omega, there’s chunky discount to be had from the £3,970 RRP (on bracelet). Some examples of the prior model may still be floating around at an attractive price.
I have no desire whatsoever of igniting the eternal brand comparison wars, but if Dive watches are your thing, have you considered Tudor? Their Black Bay (41mm, £2,670) and particularly the Black Bay 58 (39mm, £2,600 – but harder to find) also have commendable ‘in house’ movements, but are a bit less flashy in looks than the Seamaster and almost unbeatable value at that new price point. Arguably the Seamaster has a slightly more interesting & impressive movement, but it’s really splitting hairs over not very much.

I bought this watch at the end of last year and have been wearing it almost daily since.
I think it's excellent - I bought it with a small inheritance from a much loved elderly relative and wear it partially for sentimental reasons. Makes me smile every day.
It looks quite different (imho better) in real life than in pictures - the new wave dial isn't to everyone's liking being much less subtle than previous wave dial Seamasters and some say it's over the top - but I like it and it makes the watch look very different from different angles and in different lights.
It is indeed quite big at 42mm and slightly bigger than previous Seamasters.
It feels absolutely rock solid - I held my watch and a Rolex 16570 Explorer II (another watch I like) in each hand recently and the Rolex felt like a toy in comparison.
Mine accurate to within 0.5s/day.
Definitely get one on a bracelet - solid, comfy and the micro adjustment clasp is great.
Can't recommend it highly enough. Dom Hackett sourced mine and looked after me very well.
Tudor BB is a nice looking watch too.

I'm always a fan of a good discount, any suggestions on where from with the current model?sheldimus said:

As per my post - try Dom. He's a broker not an Omega AD, but he sourced my watch from a UK Omega AD with the warranty card stamped and dated with the date of purchase. Here's his advertised price:

Any of the regular high street Authorised Dealers should provide 10% with very little effort, and more is certainly possible. The dedicated Omega Boutiques might be a bit less accommodating - I've never used them, so I'm not sure.
There are of course many online options from the likes of 'Chronext', who provide 10% discount straight off the bat.
However, Dom Hackett of 'Hackett Watches' is the well-worn & reputable recommendation around this parish - it helps that he's a good guy and posts here as well - and he's offering the new blue & black models for £3,350 inc. VAT - there's 15.5% off straight away:

I suggest you give him a call for a chat to see what he can do.
I know this is a watch for association with a special occasion, so perhaps a second-hand model understandably lacks appeal for that reason, but without looking terribly hard I've seen them advertised for private sale at a few months old for circa £2,600 - buying from Forums or online etc. is a bit more tricky though, and requires more effort.
Happy hunting.
EDIT: Ah, I see Seight_Returns has nailed the answer whilst I was typing my reply

Do people get watches when they get married? My wife got an engagement ring a wedding ring and an eternity ring and I got nothing. Apart from a lovely wife etc. Sorry, getting married...

Maybe I need to renew my vows or something.

Don't the forget the remarkably expensive day long Princess appreciation event (wedding)!

Hence me pushing for something in return. The deal just didn't seem a fair one..

That'll just cost you more jewellery Son. If you do get a watch you'll have to pay for that too...
