Any Sky Dweller owners on here?

How do you find living with it?

I've recently gone on the list to buy one and am expecting a long wait. I went off them for a little while, but now would like one - I really like the mechanism and it's ease of use.

Got my SD this summer. Love it! Came from a Daytona (panda) and GMTII.

I much prefer it to the Daytona. Very easy to use, elegant and perfect for casual and smart wear. Great weight and size to the watch that suits me far better than my previous Rolex watches.

Pic.

Looks a good size on you....

I really liked them when they first came out but then became obsessed with an Aquanaut.... and bought one, but hardly ever wear it. I've since realised that I really do prefer a 'one watch' philosophy - something you can wear all the time but also a watch that's hard wearing AND complicated! That has to be the Sky Dweller - such a clever mechanism.

I don't read much about them on PH - I assume there must be a few owners.

Did you wait long for yours?

I am on the list, but am tempted to use the profit on the PP and buy one at a premium....

Waited just over 2 years for it - Had bought 4 other watches from same dealer over the previous 6 or so years. I had to really keep in regular contact with them (every 3 months or so by email) and pop in whenever passing. Eventually popped in one day and timed it just right as they had one in the back that hadn't been allocated to anyone on their list, so offered to me.

It is such a clever mechanism. I really enjoy having to go through all the settings every time I let the watch run down!

If you've got profit in the watch you are selling then I guess it makes sense to but at a premium. Although, saying that, I do also enjoy the wait as long as you can trust your AD to come through for you!

Apart from not being a very patient person, I don’t really build relationships with watch retailers. I buy, I leave! smile

I may have to pay a premium. Gulp!

It's not a relationship per se, just being loyal to one store and staying a familiar face.

What model Sky Dweller would you go for?

gold dust.

I have a friend thats bought about 9 rolex's over the last 18 months and while they keep promising him one he still hasnt got it.

I cant say I was too keen on the Sky Dweller, but after I saw the rose gold with a charcoal face on someone's wrist I thought it looked pretty awesome.

I have had white, black and blue dials since launch. Great movement, but the novelty soon wore off - busy dial, too shiny, and a tad large. Swapped my blue dial for a much nicer 16520.

I have quite a shiny Planet Ocean which I don't mind at all....

It's sounding like I'm going to have to pay a premium if I want one within a couple of years.

If you're willing to pay the premium then you can have one tomorrow.

Can we ask the question how much you paid over RRP?

Bravo for just going for it though... Great piece, and the blue looks brilliant.

I got a good deal on an unused one from a 'contact'! I paid a roughly 35% premium - happy to put the profit on my Aquanaut into a watch I wanted and one that I will wear every day.

Thanks...

It's not as big as I expected - which is no bad thing, nor as heavy. It's very comfortable and probably a perfect fit.

My Omega is a monster in comparison - much heavier and thicker.

Yes, I still have it.

It replaced the one that fell off and is at the bottom of the Solent.
