‘95 Rolex Sub...am I mad?
Discussion
It's probably market price, but is it worth it - not necessarily the same thing.
Just before Christmas I was offered a '07 16613 Sub Date Steel/Gold for £3800 and, unsurprisingly, snapped the sellers' hand off. If you're going to keep it then your price is fair, but as an investment ... I'm not sure it's going to do much for a while.

Morning all,
I’ve been offered a ‘95 Sub with box and papers for £6,400.
It would round off my collection but having watched prices increase over time (excuse the multiple puns there), it looks like a decent enough investment bet.
Thoughts?

If it’s from a dealer with a decent reputation for selling high value watches it’s in the right ball park. Baring in mind Miltons and watches.co.uk have 16610s for similar money. If it’s a private sale I would want at least £1000 less than either of those dealers.I’ve been offered a ‘95 Sub with box and papers for £6,400.

Will it be a good investment? No. The FTSE will outperform by a long way.

I’m in no rush and would rather pay less than £6k or that much and a bit for something a little rarer.
Don't take this the wrong way OP, this is really aimed at the mods, but how come my post where I ask how to sell a particular watch gets removed, but this one stays!
Perhaps I should have worded mine as I've been offered the watch I want to sell. The post would probably then still be here!
What's particularly annoying is mine really was a genuine question about where to sell, not an attempt to do so. Ah well, the joy of PH.
And as far as the original question is concerned, the price seems about right, but if you decide it's not for you, a trade sale would then lose you money, or you need to find a private buyer. Keeping it for a few years would limit the chances of any kind of loss.

A 95 sub will be the pre ceramic version. Infact i believe the pre ceramic subs are the nicest looking with nicer proportioned shoulders.
If you look on Chrono24 there will be a fair comparison for prices. Date or no date . i prefer the cleaner look of the no date , however its a personal taste.
Make sure its not been polished within an inch of its life. A good indicator are the coronet fading on the clasp. The shoulders should either be untouched or have decent definition. The bezel should still feel like you can grip it and not too rounded.
Service history is favourable. You dont want any hidden service costs looming. The 93150 bracelet is around 2k for new old stock one. Is the bracelet tight?
Allways buy on condition , seems a fair price , but they can be found for a little less. It all depends if you really really desire a box ( that will reside in a drawer ) and papers that will only be of value if you sell it on.
Happy days.

Ah well, I'm not too bothered. But it just annoyed me when you see some of the stuff on here. And quite why anyone would report it I have no idea. I was just asking for advice on where to sell a Black Bay as I've never sold a watch privately. Anyway, going to go with Chrono24 once I've got some decent pictures taken.
