I have just bought myself one of these....

https://www.omegawatches.com/en-gb/watch-omega-spe...

The lugs are 19mm, most of the leather straps that I like are either 18 or 20mm, looking around many say the 20mm will be fine on it. So that is what I ordered.

I really like this sort of look...

However, now wondering if 20mm in a fabric strap is OK, but 20mm on a thick leather may be pushing it?

It is not silly money, so can always just try it, more a case of I should get the watch today so would be nice to have the strap here tomorrow and it be right.

My FOIS lives on a 20mm leather strap, but you'll need 19mm if you go with a NATO or a rubber.

Depends on the thickness of the leather, likely fine but if not you will probably be able to shave it slightly and it will be OK.

Look at Geckota for straps, they have lots of 19mm leather. Nice styles.

Congratulations on the watch.

Before trimming it down, try giving the edges a push against a hard surface - worktop etc. The leather should be supple enough to just pinch the edges in for a snug fit.

Will do.

Thanks for the link too, some nice straps.

This is the watch, collected this evening, I like it a lot. Not set the day/date by this point before anyone points that out! laugh

Should get the strap tomorrow.

I thought it arrived earlier, but turns out it was 3kg of Haribo Golden Bears I ordered pissed the night before.

Sherp Leatherwork on Etsy will make you that exact strap in 19mm for about €30.

Highly recommended.

Nearly ordered from them before when considering one for my blue datejust.

I will see how I get on with this one and give them a whirl if it doesn't fit.

Thanks.

19mm available from here https://www.watchgecko.com/cheswell-vintage-genuin...

Some 20mm look fine but some look pinched

I have a Tag chrono that takes 19mm so used to this scenario

After 2 weeks with this watch I have realised something...

My eyesight is crap!

Seriously, with glasses on I love this watch, like properly love it, but without any glasses, which I only use for reading, I can't see it properly.

I think there is just too much going on for my poor eyes to cope with, my Seamaster and my Datejust are far easier to see, the details on this are just so small I can't appreciate the watch.
