As a present for a young man with extremely dubious tastes, I need something cheap and as gangster-ish as humanly possible.

Must be gold. Big, chunky, even enormous.

I've tried to explain what people usually look for in a watch, but it all falls on deaf ears.

Max £250.

Can anyone do "better" than these monstrosities?

There aren’t many watch questions to which the correct answer is “Invicta” but this appears to be one of them. Eat your heart out...

Ahhh, how could I have forgotten the horological genius found in Argos catalogues across the land? Thanks!

Diesel, TW Steel and Nixon do massive gold monstrosities.

57mm! Stretch the budget a bit and they do a 76mm. Buy two and you can use them to guide 747s into their parking spacesbiggrin

Invicta for sure.

Grandson number one was this way inclined and a huge gold Invicta fitted the bill.

What about a replica gold Rolex? Or another well knowledge brand that attracts attention like Jacob and co etc

If it’s just to look bling, won’t that be better than a bling looking watch from a unbling brand?

https://www.dcwatches.co.uk/jacob-co-rainbow-tourb...

Half price at £156

No idea about this ‘manufacturer’ or boutique but that looks like a lot of bling for your £

How about another gorgeous suggestion from Invicta like this

https://www.invictastores.eu/new-arrivals/invicta-...

You'll have to be quick though as they've nearly sold out, yes seriously.

We were fortunate enough to be in the Caribbean just before the lockdown and spotted this in one of the jewellery stores. I can't imagine how some people's minds work to be able to come up with a design that horrendous or why anyone would want to buy it.

Invicta is right on the money.

Actually decent quality as well, the sub "homage" I had worked for 8 years without service and withstood all abuse.

hahaha there are plenty of horrors in here, that's for sure. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Taste is all subjective, of course, but the African diaspora certainly does seem to have a thing for bling (intended recipient is an Eritrean refugee).

Tbh I worked with plenty of black people and gold just looks a lot better on them for some reason.
