Buying watch from overseas

Hi all,

I’m considering purchasing a watch (or two) from Japan. The dealer has confirmed shipping costs which I’m happy with.

Doee anyone know if there are customs (or other) charges when the watch hits the UK?

I think it's 2.5% duty plus 20% VAT on top of that and the shipping cost too. HMRC should be able to tell you the exact duty amount.

I'm never sure if it's duty + 20% VAT or just the courier admin fee + VAT.

Either way it's VAT + a few extra quid, unless you get very lucky, which does sometimes happen.
