I’m not a watch collector, i know nothing about the hobby beyond some google, youtube and insta over the past couple of weeks but i’d like to buy a nice watch to wear whenever i fancy it.

Would i be making any silly obvious mistakes if i bought a Grand Seiko SBGE205?

I’m not bothered about resale. I do like the idea of changing straps every couple of years. I wear an Apple Watch today if you’re trying to judge my taste - i know i have none :-)

If you’re only a couple of weeks in to looking at ‚serious‘ watches I suggest waiting a while before you splash the cash.

Your tastes may change and evolve as you start to look into more varied designs; I know mine did.

Yeah i’ll definitely give it another few weeks before i pull the trigger. I had the bright idea of buying a cheap homage to try out for now but i haven’t found any that look close enough to be worth trying.

In the meantime i figured i’d post on a few forums and see what advice i can hoover up from experienced people!
