I have a 6139 I bought at a car boot sale around 7-8 years a go for the princely sum of £22.50 (down from 30!)

I had it serviced and the gaskets replaced at the time by perfect timing in Chichester.

I also bought a new crystal for it which was never fitted - the crystal on it is totally knackered and is the main reason I don't wear the watch.

The case also needs to be brushed on the top surfaces. It will never be perfect but it could be a lot better.

I have just ordered a new bracelet for it, from a company in the US who is producing solid link copies with the end links which mine is missing.

Any suggestions for someone in the UK who I could send it to?

You need to speak to Duncan, he's a specialist on these and has done several services of these for me and a full refurb for my brother inc NOS crystal

Very interesting, I have a 6138-0011 which needs a good service and a case refurb.

Hoping to get some pictures of mine sent to me today (I am currently in Canada), having read the link above I am thinking perhaps I should go further and have the lume redone and the internal bezel changed as it is quite faded.

It's such a lovely watch I think it deserves to be looking its best.

I was hoping I might be able to get it done in the next month or two but doesn't seem likely looking.

Watch is going to Duncan tomorrow.

Full service, case clean and re gasket, lume refresh and new crystal.

Probably not going to get it back for 5 or 6 months and it is unlikely I will see the watch in person until sometime after that but at least it's getting sorted finally after all this time.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Yeah I am thrilled with it from the pictures. Unless things change with travel I doubt I will see it for quite a while yet.

Will get it on the Uncle Seiko bracelet and my Dad or brother will probably end up knocking about it in for a while.

Did you ask for the dial to be relumed like that? The lume should be on the inner part of the indices like this -

Duncan’s opinion is that it came out of the factory like that on mine. The dial is original.

Looks good - Interesting about the lume.

He's got my 6117 World Time in for a repair/service, but I know he's backed up at the moment, so I don't expect to see it for a while smile

He quoted me 14 weeks in December. Sounds like he was knocked back with COVID for a minute so perhaps his lead times have increased.

I would definitely use him again though. Very pleased with the quality of service. Having all the pictures is great.
