Short version, am I asking for trouble here? https://www.amazon.co.uk/TAG-Heuer-WAZ2011-BA0843/...

Long verson, I know its Tag, rebrandeed movements etc, but I like the design and is the right kind of money for a daily. RRP is £1750.

Unknown 3rd Party seller via Amazon fulfillment - Alarm bells ring?

Clicking on the sellers name takes you to a page that says they have “just launched” as a seller…

I think given it's "Fulfilled by Amazon" i'd be a lot more confident than if say you were buying from the seller directly given h is new and unknown. I think you are pretty safe that your watch will arrive and if there is an issue you should have decent come back as Amazon will deal with the return directly.
The idea is that the item is already at one of Amazon's warehouses and will be delivered through their network and can be returned the same way, through their network

Amazon might deliver it but they aren’t going to check whether it’s genuine/not stolen etc.

Personally, I would find a local watch shop that stocks Tag and get them to do a click and collect or send it to you. You would be able to get a discount too.

I wouldn’t buy anything like that from Amazon unless it was from Amazon.

All reviews are from the US and read like they may well be fake..... if it is a lot cheaper than UK price there is probably a reason why...

Same kind of Price from Chrono24 by the time you import etc, even at retail UK with a little hunting it can be snagged for £1500 so wouldn't say its cheap.

The reasoniong for Amazon is I have a pile of Amazon vouchers to use up.

To me personally, I would expect it to be a fake just becauser the seller has just launched but its almost a no risk situation given Amazon is behind the fulfillment.........Im tempted to give it a punt. I think it would be fairly easy to spot a fake DIY style and if it is then back it goes.........

Sounds like a total waste of time. There's no way I'd buy a watch like that from a place like Amazon.

He has a point though, if it turns out to be a fake then Amazon will refund him.

Try speaking to a few AD and playing them off against each other.

20% off should be very easy to achieve but as we are in the middle of a lockdown i cant imagine they are too busy so may well be happy to strike a decent deal.

Two years ago i struck lucky and got my WAZ1111 for 40% off but that was one of those right time/right place moments!

Ordered whistle

Will be here Thursday.

If its a ringer then it should only take 5 minutes to work it out and raise a return with Amazon. The initial enquirey was to see if anyone had had a go when it came to watches on Amazon rather than have already made my mind up. Watch buying from Amazon is as i guessed not common ground.

Normally I would be all over AD's, C24 etc but like I say I have/had Amazon vouchers to use up. Its not overly cheap, if at all any cheaper than compared to C24 and importing. Its a punt definately, but a realtively cheap punt with what should be a simple returns process smile

Do Amazon still do the decent one-off discount if you sign up to the fashion emails?

Ive bought a fake Tag from Amazon.
Originally reviews were a bit hit and miss but it was well priced so took a risk after speaking to Amazon online chat. When it arrived was a decent fake but serial number on the back related to a completely different style of Tag. Also the box and warranty card weren't up to the normal Tag quality which was a give away.
Raised it with Amazon and to be honest it wasn't as painless as I expected. Didn't want to acknowledge that it was counterfeit and stalled on refunding until I'd sent back to seller at my own cost. I stood firm on the basis that I wasn't prepared to send it back to the seller for them to re-sell to someone else.
I said I would send it back to Amazon but not to the original seller. After a couple of days Amazon came back with a refund and said keep the watch. It's still in a drawer here.
Hopefully yours will be genuine but ensure you properly check it over as they are fairly good copies which fool quite a few people (as the reviews testify).

Thanks for the tips, genuinely. I think there is a saying like Tags and Rollers are the most counterfeited goods out there so I am very much so going into this eyes wide open. A video of the unboxing wouldn't go a miss incase Amazon want to get funny. Im going to sound like a complete and utter snob (applogies if I do) every other watch I own is a Rolex with a particular attraction to Daytona's so im fairly confident about being able to rat it out, but then I have never had a TH before, failing that expect a new thread here on Thursday for the TH pros!

I bought a Hamilton 'Jazzmaster' from Amazon back in 2013, seller was 'Watches and More'. Was painless, watch was (and still is) spot on with all appropriate documentation etc. Dumb name, nice watch.

Looking back I paid £770 so a bit under list. Would buy from them again.

Yes, good shout about videoing the unboxing. I think the retail for my watch was about £1100 and it was on offer for £750, I convinced myself it was a customer return or something. It came from a seller in Italy (who very quickly disappeared off of amazon). What i did notice was that there was a lot of reviews on the watch but they all seemed to be for loads of different sellers, so I presume the sellers re-name themselves often.

I didn't do a video, but took photos at the time;

And the other giveaway was the glass clearly wasn't sapphire glass.

Hoping yours is fine mate, ill be watching the thread for Thursday!

I had a nightmare with Amazon for a fake webcam - and that was only £35. Took about 6 weeks to sort out, had to go through the appeals process 3 times before they would take action, each time awaiting the seller to respond.

I only kept going as a point of principle.

I will only buy "proper" Amazon stuff now.

If it's "fulfilled by Amazon" I'd say there's low risk.

On impulse I ordered an Amazon renewed £250 iPod Classic on Saturday, which was sold by a third party and fulfilled by Amazon. It arrived Sunday, I wasn't impressed (non Apple parts used to renew) so sent it back. Dropped off at UPS drop office Sunday evening, the refund was back in my bank account on Monday (the same day the original payment went out!)

I'd agree its a risk buying something not from Amazon (mine was fulfilled by them), but if it comes from them you've got the same buyer protection, which in my opinion is pretty excellent. No way I'd use a reseller where items cam direct from the seller.
