Hi All,
My mum has just had an expensive service >£1k on her Cartier watch that was returned to Cartier trough Goldsmiths. I was hoping that the watch would be returned in a nice Cartier box as per previous service about 5 years ago. I would also have expected a detailed breakdown of the work completed.

What should my Mum have received ?
Thank you in advance,
GF

I can't speak for Cartier but I have sent my (no longer owned) Omega Seamaster back for service a couple of times over the last decade and I never got anything more than a basic receipt and the watch was wrapped in bubble wrap and placed in a grip seal bag.

I spent a few hundred pounds on each occasion

Last time I got a Cartier back it was in a service pouch with a receipt for the service, as far as I recall. No box, and I cannot think of a maker that gives you an actual box (though I have had hard service cases).

Same here. Ex's solid gold (not that that makes a difference) Cartier was serviced a few times by Cartier in Bond Street. It only ever came back in a pouch with a receipt.

Considering the price of an Omega service, I think it's a poor show. With Oris, at least you get the watch returned in a decent case. But Oris has always treated me well when it came to servicing (an excellent job, yet without costing the earth).

Thanks all,
I will follow up with the shop, as a link was replaced, but the faulty (18 CT) link has not been returned. The watch was returned in a fitted watch foam in a velvet baggie.
Cheers.

if they follow the same processes as Rolex the faulty parts are not returned to the customer when replaced.
