Bremont and Jaguar are doing a collaboration with a series of watches, we also have Brietling for Bentley and TAG Heur and Aston Martin. Whats people opinion on these? I think that they are pretty niche and you really need to be in to both brands for it to work, particularly having the actual car too.

This also has me thinking that the balance on cost has to be correct for it to work, I think Bremont and Jag are correct as both are attainable where as TAG and Aston Martin are at other ends of their respective market. I would have thought an Aston Martin buyer would gravitate towards watch brands such as Patek for example.

Would you buy one and would not having the car be an issue? Or if you had the car would you buy the watch?

I bought a Vanquish when they first came out.... and then felt I should own the watch that, at the time, went with the car - a Jaeger featuring the Aston logo on the back.

I remember going out for a drive in the Vanquish one day and my wife said "got your special watch on?" and it ruined it. Hahahaha.

I've done it. It's naff. I'd probably do it again. It's still naff. smile

I see it in the same way as someone driving a Subaru Impreza and wearing their Subaru jacket at the same time (Works as well with any other marque). Its a bit naff really and I wouldn't do it.
Probably even worse if you own say a Porsche watch but don't own the car,

Authenticity is cool, fakery isn’t. So putting a brand on a watch that wasn’t made by the company is naff, whether the buyer owns the car or not.

The only car company I can think of that is acceptable for a watch is Porsche, as they’ve had a design brand for some time, and it’s excellent in its own right.

Otherwise I’d say that wearing a Bentley/Aston/Ferrari watch simply identifies you as someone who is trying too hard to impress, whether you have the car or not.

Good point on Porsche having the design arm, I’ve not looked in To too much detail on their watches and how they are constructed, they must buy their movements with the design I the case construction etc. Would I buy the watch? Probably not as I like the heritage and story that sits behind some of the established brands, Bremont however have done an incredible job of getting to where they are in their short history.

I don't think I've seen a car / watch collaboration that isn't naff.

Anyone?

As I understand it Porsche design is nothing to do with the car company other than both having origins in the Porsche family.

I totally agree.

But, and it's a very big but, if I decided I wanted some sort of car/watch collaboration, it would be along the lines of this: https://www.christopherward.com/motorsport/c1-morg...

And very recently TAG Heuer have done a deal with Porsche Cars....”Carrera” making it eventually inevitable I guess.
