Does anyone own similar watches? By that I mean watches that look similar? I want a Breitling Superocean Heritage II, but I have a watch that already resembles one. I will probably still get the Breitling, but it makes me think if it's actually worth it or not.

This is my current watch.

This is the Breitling.

I am undecided whether to go for a blue or a black one currently.

Hmmmm

I oned 6 Breitling Avengers at once (all gone now)

And now I have 5 steel sports watches that have black dials and black bezels, anyone who isn’t into watches would assume that they are the same one!

But we are the nutters that like the ridiculous, tiny differences.

How much chat was there about 1 MM with the new Sub

How exciting is it to see red writing on a Sub for some of us?

They would be too similar for me. A different colour would help.

Did you buy the first because it looks like the second? I would buy the Breitling and sell the K.Grun &Sohne.

Maybe get the black Breitling so that there is a clear and obvious difference but I think it’s fine to have similar looking watches. Then again, I might be the wrong person to respond.

90 per cent of my watches are divers, some are even the same model in different colours. I’ve got three Seiko Turtle reissues with different coloured bezels and two SMPs, one blue and one electric blue. My wife can’t see the point.

A few years back, I really wanted a Speedmaster Moonwatch but my wife talked me into a Monaco as it looked different from the other watches I owned. I saw her logic and did it. Unfortunately, I still want a Moonwatch and, though I love the Monaco, I don’t wear it enough.

I think what I’m saying is, buy what you like - I spend most of my life alternating between very similar dive watches

I have the Submariner, Sea Dweller and the Deep Sea. I like them all but the Sea Dweller doesn't get much worn much

I own two of the exactly same model, one for day to day use, the other for special occasions hehe

Yes, most of mine look very similar, ie about twenty with round faces with two or three hands of varying sizes; just the odd one or two that are square, but still with round 'markings', and a rectangular one that looks like the case melted at some stage (or the designer had had a really good night immediately before finalising it) wink

I would stick the Grün on a mash strap first, see if that scratches the Breitling itch.

Through various fortuitous twists of fate I have a “Pepsi” and a “Coke” Rolex GMT Master II. I wear the “Coke”, and I let my dad wear the “Pepsi”.

I'm trying.to.diversify my collection but I definately have a thing for dive watches.

I saw a very nice Tudor BB with brass case used for sale near me but it looks very similar to one of my daily Tag Aquaracers which is on.a very similar colour strap and while the Tudor is obviously a better watch I.dont really want to sell the Tag to justify buying it.

I would love a Rolex Explorer type watch but ive come in.at completely the wrong time as it looks like prices are set to go up fast.

As soon as I saw the thread title, I thought of your collection. £45k (?) worth of three identical black ROLEXESES.

99.9% of the population would think you were an utter mental but this is a safe space. biggrin

Seems a bit pointless to me - I barely wear them enough as it is.

I fairly deliberately have a diverse collection including a diver, gold dress, a couple of different colour chronos, square face, vintage, birth year, mix of bracelet/leather/nato etc., 35mm-42mm.

I would sell the first one to fund the second, unless it has any sentimental value - but if you want them both, go for it.

I think the 0.1% of the population would be wrong hehe

At retail, $34k (USD)?

On the secondary market, who knows...and who cares! Regardless of how low I slipped, the sub would never be for sale. You could offer me 7 figures for the watch and it would still stay on my wrist.

Sort of.

But some of us gravitate to a particular watch function or style - in my case, steel, steel or rubber bracelet, possibly GMT, definitely a date. I've tried other styles, less robust watches, and they don't appeal quite so much.

I guess there's the train of thought that you like a particular style, so having multiples in that same style makes sense, or there's the train of thought of having a wide array of watch styles to then pick and choose as you desire.

Personally I'm in the latter camp but that's because there are lots of watches I want and I can't afford them all, so I've tried to build an array of what I like spread across a little collection of 6 currently.

I just 'need' a 7th, which I'm 95% sure will be a GO PanoMaticLunar, that way I have the watch on my wrist and still a full box of 6 hehe

One benefit of having multiples is the ability to have different straps on them without having to change straps... Could really dress up / down the 2 and distinguish them quite well when worn.
