I've see this watch https://www.tagheuer.com/gb/en/timepieces/collecti... as a potential present for my wife's birthday but a friend of ours who has a Tag watch is having no end of problems with hers and had to send it back for repair twice now (1st losing time, 2nd gaining time!).

Is the above a "good" choice or can someone recommend another watch please? I have a budget of no more than £1000.

Thanks in advance

Yep, I just got my miss the longines classic conquest fir her 40th. She has no interest in mechanical movement, so went fir quartz with mother of pearl Dial and diamond insets. Very pleased with it.

As above I think you are unlikely to have issues with a Quartz Tag.

A woman I work with has the same watch or something very similar by Tag and it does look good on, it's impressive how the bracelet catches the light. Personally I'm not a fan of women wearing mens size watches and I think this one is very elegant looking.

OP if your local to Bicester? or fancy a day out, Bicester Village have a TAG shop there usually with big discounts on RRP.

Doing the same! Looking at Cartier Tanks - will hold their value and a long term investment to pass on. Might even get myself one also.

I know this is over budget, but maybe part finance, or you can get a second hand one from chrono24 for around £1400-£1500. Depends how strict your budget is. Or maybe a Hamilton Ventura, around £750 for a quartz, around £1200 for an auto?

This is a really tough call IMO, especially if it’s a surprise.

I spent forever searching for a watch for my wife’s 40th. Something she lusted after when we were just married.

I tracked down a new old stock Gucci 9000L from Italy (nothing special by today’s standards), paid a not insignificant sum for it & she was distinctly underwhelmed by it.

If your wife isn’t sentimental, make sure it’s actually something she wants!

Yes, I’m still holding it against her 8 years on….lol

Nice find and good info, thank you. It's a bit too much over my budget, but thanks anyway.

Thanks for all the suggestions and guidance.

I think the Tag Aquaracer is the one I will try and get her.

<clip> make sure it’s actually something she wants!...
Exactly, this is the question, no one has asked - except you wink

Does she already have an everyday watch? Is this intended more as a dress watch or everyday watch? Does she like the current fashion for ladies to wear men's sized watches or does she prefer something smaller? All questions you can discreetly find answers to but just asking a bunch of guys a car forum is probably not the best approach. laugh

I have an Aquaracer that I use for tennis/swimming etc. - it's a decade old, never been serviced, and never gone wrong. Maybe the more modern ones have problems but for as much as I use it, mine has been fine.
