I was looking at buying a Seamaster in the near future and have just come across this. I actually find the whole James Bond link and signage on the watch a bit cringey if I'm honest...

No idea if I would be able to get one but if I could would this actually be collectible? 7007 units are being made.

Thanks

I'd surmise collectible in the same way all the other Omega special/limited/anniversary editions are.
The rifled dial is quite nifty though.

Hi
As I'm pretty new to the watch 'scene' you'll have to be a bit more specific please. Would this piece actually be worth more than the RRP or do you mean it'll just hold it's value a little better than most Omegas?

Cheers

My point is just that there are an awful lot of Omega special editions, it's no guarantee of holding value better than the reference, it kind of depends on how tasteful they are.
Also seeing as the reference watch (with rubber strap) is £4170 vs. this at £5560 (33% premium), where is the value? How will it hold that extra value vs. reference watches when there's not that much to distinguish it?
This is just my personal opinion though and might not reflect the 'received wisdom' of the scene.
If you find it a bit naff I would not recommend getting it on the basis of value/collectability, get something you really like.
The upwards march of RRP buoys used prices anyway. For example my 5 year old speedy is still worth roughly what I paid for it.

My advice would be to buy the watch you love and that you will wear, buying a limited edition in the hope that it will appreciate is a flawed practice imo . It might , it might not although some people do collect the bond specials so many are made that it rarely makes a good buy

Understood, thanks

Thanks.
As I said, I actually find the JB logos all a bit naff if I'm honest.
After all, I'm a grown man and JB is a fictitious character lol.
I prefer the black face on a black strap.

I got one last year, chose it over the "no time to die" seamaster.
Absolutely love it, it comes with a metal bracelet in addition to the rubber strap.

If you're looking at getting an omega simply to flip then get the new snoopy..... assuming you can find one!

Thanks.

I didn't realise that the rubber strap model comes with a metal bracelet as well.

I probably can't get a Snoopy, but for me it it does beg the question....what makes that particular watch worth over RRP? Is it just very limited numbers?

Cheers

The space fans are gagging for them.
Worth is debatable, flippers obviously don't help.

If you are buying it with a view to trying to flip it for a profit then id say dont bother.
It may have a higher value in the future or it may not. Omegas do ok in the used market but you can't generally do quick flips like people are with Rolex if that's your thought process.

I am an Omega fan, I have a 300m Sramaster Professional and also a Planet Ocean and I love them both.

I've had opportunity to buy Bond editions in the past and I dont think they are worth the premiums over a standard Omega personally, each to their own though and if you want to buy it for your self to.wear and you like it then go for it.

In a word, no.

The Seamaster is better known by 'non-watch' people whereas the Speedmaster has more of a following for enthusiasts
Most Omega enthusiasts IMO are not fussed about the Bond connection, it is more something for the general public and nice marketing for Omega.

For the Speedy a few select models have appreciated - the original Moonwatch and a few special editions e.g. Speedy Tuesday, Snoopy. Even then steady growth compared to the mania around Patek Nautilus, Rolex Daytona, or even the green Submariners.

Don't sink money into an Omega (in fact any watch) as an investment. Buy it because you like it, if it goes up that's a bonus.

I bought the No Time To Die one because I liked it. It's not a limited edition so I don't think it will be that collectable. I could have got one of the latest Snoopy Speedmasters which definitely will carry on rising but I found the blue a bit too bright for my tastes.

Limited run of 7,007? Probably hold its value better than most. But, as has been said, there's an Omega special edition every week (almost).

And there's no accounting for taste. smile
