Years a go I bought a citizen bullhead off eBay, the seller had a lot of good feedback but the watch stopped after a few days.

Further googling suggested they were selling junk. I got my money back being persistent.

Shortly after I saw a Seiko bullhead at a car boot sale, with a dealer, who was a complete tt so I walked away before even finding out the price. A regret of mine (not long before I had got my 6139 for £22.50).

I just want one. Are there are reasonably priced auto bullheads out there? They seem to be having a bit of a Renaissance but so many of them are quartz and I don’t want quartz.

Would also do vintage if it was a known quantity or at least honestly appraised. No way I’d buy a vintage bullhead from eBay again, there seems to be a lot of junk.

Does anyone else like bullheads? That whole vibe seems to be very much in fashion again.

Random, was thinking about bullhead watches this morning.
Lots of used citizens and seikos on chrono24 plus omegas and breitlings for quite a bit more.

CT scuderia and bomberg both offer new bullheads, a bit more in your face look than traditional. Zeno also has a more traditional style available.

Would quite like to add a bullhead to my collection at some point.

The reason the prices have gone mad is because of 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' where 'Cliff Booth' (Brad Pitt) wears one on a bund brown leather strap.Fantastic film.

Yep, that Detroit Mint one looks…mint.

There’s no way I would go for a vintage automatic chronograph. Too much to go wrong, servicing is expensive and prices are through the roof. It’s got to be quartz, really.

I wish Citizen would do a reissue of that watch but they (Miyota) don’t currently produce an automatic chronograph movement.

I didn't think prices had gone mad particularly. The Citizens have gone up a bit (but not consistently) and the Seikos haven't gone nuts compared to other vintage Seikos.

I don't have a problem with it if the movement is serviceable. I think the movement service for my 6139 was less than two hundred quid so not exactly extortionate. When I bought my Citizen I was supposedly buying a decent working watch, not a project.

There were definitely more obscured vintage brands producing bullheads.

There are some autos from Sorna on eBay that appeal.
