I'm thinking about getting a BB58, but can't decide on the strap. I think I prefer the one with the leather strap, but it is better to get one model (like the steel bracelet) and then change it afterwards?

Also any owners have any thoughts on this watch so far?

The general rule is always buy the watch on the bracelet as it’s better for resale and it’s way more cost effective buying the straps separately.

That being said, the bracelet is rubbish. Or at least not up to par and lacks adjustment. I think I had mine on the bracelet for about two hours before it got switched to a mix of NATOs.

The watch itself is great - fantastic actually. It’s well made, is extremely comfortable, light and has a nice vintage look to it. The size is just about perfect for a wrist up to 7.5” and it’s very subtle. It’s not a ‘look at me’ watch, which is nice, and I’d genuinely consider it in the top three watches I’ve owned. I love it.

Bracelet for sure. I like mine but don’t love it like my Omega Seamaster from 2003.

Same goes with my Pelagos v Planet Ocean. The feel isn’t there & Tudor does have QC issues.

Cheaper though & lovely in their own right.

I think this is a fair point. There’s no immediate ‘wow’ with the Tudors and none of them will really have you repeatedly staring at your wrist to admire it - nor will other people be, if that matters to you.

I still think the BB58 is excellent, though.

I'm a fan of the Tudor BB watches but I don't like the bracelets at all personally, the fake rivets on the side really irritate me.

If I was buying one I'd get the one on the Nato personally but as someone said above if you are thinking about a potential future resale buy one on a bracelet then remove it and put it on leather or a nato after purchase.

Love mine, faux rivets and all

The lume pip on mine came loose after a couple of months of ownership, seems to be a quite common issue with the BB58. Repaired to as new via the AD.

I would def. buy on the bracelet unless you're able to see the leather and decide you like it.. I've a BB S&G that I bought on the "aged leather" strap and it just looks cracked and worn out even though it's hardly been used. If you really do want a leather strap you can do far better aftermarket and flog the bracelet. But if you don't like the leather you will either have to pay through the nose for an OEM bracelet or live with something you're not completely happy with.

I like mine, there's not much else out there that does what a BB58 does for the money.

I got mine without the bracelet because I don't like the fake rivets. Money saved by getting it on a leather strap was spent on a green Rubber B strap and a Strapcode Oyster and a handful of other leather and NATO options.

If you want resale value security then by all means get it on the OEM bracelet. If you want to wear it then I wouldn't bother unless you really want the rivet look.

Ooh that green strap looks nice.

What aftermarket leather straps can you get that have a folding clasp? I.e. not buckle and holes.

Typically people buy a deployant clasp and fit it to what ever strap they like.

Get the bracelet. If only for resale value. I’m wearing my BB58 blue on the bracelet today and I love it. Sizing can be a bit of an issue for some people though, as no on the fly adjustment or half links to tune the fit. I’m just lucky that my wrist size seems to work well.

My original black BB58 is still one of my favourite watches, to the extent I’ve managed to get hold of all three Tudor straps for it. Looks best on the bracelet, the nato is really nice but the leather doesn’t do it justice in my opinion.

Looks great on a "builders tea" leather

I was thinking the same thing. Of all the pictures I've seen, a lighter brown seems to work better than the OEM strap.

Bracelet it is then. Thanks all.

Prefer my Pelagos to Planet Ocean and I've had QC issues with the Omega - so it's horses for courses!

Even if you have no intention of using it, I would always opt for the bracelet as buying it new is the ‘cheap’ option. As said previously, it’s much better should you ever want to move it on or don’t want to wear the watch on something that soaks you sweat in the summer months.

It’s a bit like not optioning carbon ceramic brakes when buying a higher end Porsche in my opinion.

Before I purchased my BB58, all I read about on here and other places was how bad the bracelet was because of the faux rivets. In all honesty I have never even noticed or cared a jot about them when it’s on the wrist.

I think most fabric straps from the manufacturer are poorer in quality, colour and material (for the money they charge)than you can buy/have made from the aftermarket.

It’s a great watch in whatever colour you choose, hope you managed to pick one up smile

The rubber B straps are excellent and I can’t recommend them more highly. I’ve got leather, nato and the rubber for this and pretty much only use the rubber.

Doesn't it make your wrist sweaty?

Not at all. I was very sceptical over the cost originally but the way it fits and feels I’d buy another. It feels like an OEM product and it makes the watch fit better on the wrist than the leather strap.
