F.P. Journe - thoughts and opinions?
Discussion
Hi all have been wanting a Daytona forever and don’t think it’s happening from an AD…
Stumbled across F.P. Journe don’t know much about them, anyone have one or have any opinions?
Build quality looks spot on but being a “smaller” brand will it hold value or is it better to look for a used one?
Any must have models? Etc etc
Any help is welcome
Thanks

Yes a completely different level to Rolex. Depends if you want to show off or are interested in high horology.
Will FP Journe keep their value as well? If bought new possibly not, a decent 2nd hand buy shouldnt lose a great deal however. But very low levels of supply so pricing isn’t likely to collapse IMO.
However it’s unlikely that the average bloke down the pub will ever have any idea what you have on your wrist (if that matters to you)

I have my name down for one as a 50th birthday gift to myself, unfortunately it's a 4 year wait so I'll be 52! Bugger.
They are absolutely beautiful things though.
At least you know up front it's a four year waiting list. It seems at the moment there's no certainty you'll ever get a Rolex! They are absolutely beautiful things though.
I'd say that if you can afford one then definitely take the plunge. I don't think an F.P will hold it's value as well as a Daytona but there is a long wait for an F.P so it will still hold its value pretty well.
What you are getting in return however, is a level of craftsmanship and watchmaking that a Daytona can't even dream of. Some of F.P's watches are laugh-out-load amazing.
They are quite dressy watches though other than the Linesport range.

I'd take an F.P. Journe, H Moser & Cie or A Lange Sohne over a Daytona any day of the week.
Yup. In a similar vein, I have a Breguet, and it is a similar feeling. I love wearing it as it is just so very beautiful, and yet absolutely no-one but watch nerds know what it is.Harry Flashman said:

Annoyingly I've really started to want one....
Thinking specifically about chronographs, I've previously had a WG Daytona, which I sold as I found it a bit flashy and noticeable for all the wrong reasons, and now have a Lange 1815 Chrono. Both are really nice watches, but the Lange is such a beautiful watch and IMO far finer than any Daytona. I imagine that the FP Journe is the same, and if you had them side by side you would be puzzled by why the Daytona is so expensive!
