Is this for real?
Discussion
I Had a rare shopping day in Manchester today and decided after a few years of procrastination (being told I can't) to buy a Rolex. I now know that exhibition pieces are not for sale and no one has stock. I've probably lost the urge now but are these watches in such short supply and where could I by one?

I was revving up to buy and saw a few second hand ones in a jewellers but decided to buy new. No luck. I've not looked at the bubble burst thread as this was a whim today that the wife was supporting.
I bet she’s read the thread. ‘Course you can sweetheart, treat yourself, buy what you like’

We must be getting towards half a dozen people who have had this experience or watched someone go through this.I just don't see how it is good for the brand.
My honest 2p for what little it’s worth.
I’m fortunate enough to own quite a few nice watches, but I’ve never really ‘got’ Rolex, (SS Cos excluded).
If I see someone wearing a Rolex, my first thought is ‘is it real or a fake’.
Thought number two is ‘how unimaginative’
And finally I refer to Rolex as clitoris watches, (because every c#nt has got one).
Have you considered an AP Royal Oak? Or maybe a Blancpain?

You seem to have a lot of thoughts go through your mind when you see somebody wearing a Rolex lol.I’m fortunate enough to own quite a few nice watches, but I’ve never really ‘got’ Rolex, (SS Cos excluded).

Keep up at the back! AP is the new Rolex, whether rapper, chav with knock off or Dubai wannabee there’s not a worse alternative to Rolex currently.
“Jordan 4s or Jordan 1s, Rolexes, got more than one
My AP cost thirty-one, millimeters forty-one“

So all these authorised Rolex dealer shops don’t actually have any watches to sell to someone who walks in off the street? Why have them?
Because they’ve all sat empty for a long time and someone thought this was a good solution. A Royal Oak is out of the frying pan and into a nuclear explosion.
There are tons of nice watches out there though which are affordable and attainable.

Sorry - could you elaborate on what you mean by ‘they’ve all sat empty ....’?
These shops seems to be in operation with staff. Are you saying they’re intentionally empty of saleable stock?
I mean the Rolex concessions and the Rolex window displays have sat empty, because the vast majority of men's watches are already allocated to someone who has been waiting on a list, and sit in the safe until they (or the next person on the years long list) comes and picks it up, so they never These shops seems to be in operation with staff. They usually have some dress watches, or some precious metals, available but the issue has spread throughout the range.
Recently, a decision was made to display some watches which are not for sale (I think, more accurately, not for sale immediately - they go to someone on one of those lists sooner or later) so they are appearing in windows again and people like the OP are deciding to buy them... but they can't.
