GARMIN Tactix 7 or Epix 2?
Discussion
I bought the black Epix 2 - pretty much completely because of the screen - so much nicer than the dull transfective screens. obviously the battery life suffers but mine does 5 or so days with everything turned on.
previously I had a 945 and an Apple Watch - I haven't worn my Apple Watch since I got the Epix.

I don't have either but have the most recent Tactix.
Personally I went for the model with the older style screen as it's comes with a saphire crystal (tougher for rough for activities) and I like that I can wear it for literally weeks without a charge.
I also think the 24hr bezel looks better too.
I love the look for the Epix but personally I think these watches are meant for using hard and the tougher set-up suits me best hence going for the Tactix

How does it integrate with the iPhone regarding messages and alerts. I’m coming from a Apple Watch 2 and fancy the mapping aspect for walking and the golf course use.
Over here in NZ it’s only £729 for the sapphire version which is a fair bit cheaper than in the uk I think.

Yes that's cheaper - I paid £900 for the sapphire version.
integration with iPhone is OK - you get alerts when you get messages, and you can set up which apps alert etc and you can read messages / alerts - you can't reply like you can on your Apple Watch though - something to do with how apple controls their eco system (and to sell apple watches I guess)

Which one would you buy and why?
I’ve got a Garmin Fenix 7X solar, having recently upgraded from a 6X.The user interface and functionality will be much the same as the Tactix 7.
The battery life on the 7X is amazing, lasts over 3 weeks on a full charge with moderate running and cycling use.
The torch function on the 7 is really useful (not sure if the Tactix has this)
Smart phone alerts for WhatsApp, emails, and calendar alerts are really good.
The GPS accuracy, even on trail runs under tree cover is really accurate. If I compare my route on races with other runners with different watches, the 7X appears to plot a more accurate route. Garmin Forerunner and Apple Watch in particular appear to have really poor GPS resolution by comparison.
You can download music to the watch, and then listen with wireless headphones (I use Aeropex aftershox, and they connected first time easily). You can connect with Amazon music or Spotify.
