I'm going to view and hopefully buy a lovely Laco flieger for myself tomorrow and taking my son along to get his first watch aswell. He's quite small for his age but is very feisty (like his mum!) so anything less than an adult watch will go down like a lead balloon.

He's really into anything army and I've found some decent looking Timex watches for around £40 which might fit him (budget upto £100) and sofar the Timex expedition Scout looks good, although with a case size of 40mm I think it might be too big for him as he has pretty small wrists:

Has anyone got any suggestions on a punchy and military style watch that would suit a teen boy with smallish wrists - possibly even a small G-shock? Thanks all.

What about a Baby G

Looking online, you can pick up for around £60 so I’m budget and last one I had got abused to hell and back and still worked fine

That does look pretty funky although I can see him pulling his face at the baby G name! I like it a lot though....

Plenty of G Shock (not Baby) models to choose from under £100.

Yeah the G-Shocks look ace (I used one for years) but I think the adult ones are on the big side and he has really small wrists that would be dwarfed by a grown-up G-Shock. I do like the idea though smile

I believe Timex also do women's versions of the Expedition range such as the Field Mini, which are more like 26mm, though that may be too small rather than too large.

I have a fondness for g-shocks and with my skinny 170mm wrists the standard squares are about right.

Sticking with Casio though, they offer this as a 'youth' watch: LRW-200H.

Thanks guys - some great examples there. The Casio LRW200 and Timex field mini look right up his street.

That's really cool, I like that a lot! I suspect it might be a bit big at 39mm but will try something that size tomorrow just to see. Cheers!

That looks ace, especially for a kid.
He'll grow into it in no time.

Oh yes, the legendarily robust Seiko 5.

My second one packed up this week, having replaced the first one which packed up about 5 years ago after 4 years of use. OK, maybe 4 or 5 years is a decent innings for a watch that is worn every day but I'd expected more.

What a brilliant post, thank you! I really like the MWC ones and will show him them - shame they don’t have more dealers but an absolute steal at the price. However…the Pulsar may be bought by dad so thank you for sharing. That’s an almost exact replica of the Seiko pilots watch I wore for 17 years as a military pilot and very sadly had to hand back when I left, unlike my flying helmet which cost me a bottle of Bombay Sapphire to be “scrapped” wink So I am thinking about getting one as a daily watch to wear with the Laco Flieger I am hopefully getting today for special occasions.

As happens I took my son to a few watch shops yesterday when we were picking something else up and tried a few on. Even though he has very small wrists (he’s quite small for his age but catching up fast) he did fit most adult watches too. Despite me slavering over some really cool G-Shocks on his behalf the one he really liked was the black Casio posted near the top of the thread…..£21 in the store.

However I’m taking to a larger dealer today when I try my Laco and will hopefully show him a bigger range and see what he really likes..

My pleasure, I have a 13 yo and he has a bit of a collection starting. His wrist size is now a bit over 6” and wears anything from a f91w (maybe the ultimate military watch?) to a 200m diver which is just under 44mm. As we all know dad’s advice only counts for so much… I understand the Pulsar is a reissue of the one issued to the RAF.
