Seiko 5 day/date problem
Discussion
My son has a SNZ F15J Seiko and the day is not changing at 12 but instead changes at random times and sometimes switches to an alternative language..
Is this anything that can be home fixed or not? It wasn’t very expensive, and I imagine that the cost of repair may be more than replacement.
Many thanks.

Sound like it needs a service, I love my automatic watches but like you say sometimes the cost of service can outstrip the value of the watch.
I live in rotherham and we have a local heritage centre with a Clock repairer, who has a guy service watches for him at £50 per watch, and this is where i take mine. have you nothing like this around where you live?

Here is the website, maybe you could ring them and maybe arrange to post your sons watch to them?

Those Seikos do take a few hours to fully change the day. From memory, at around 2:00 the day advances one position to the 2nd language and at 3:00 the next day finishes advancing. Is this what you are seeing?
Think it might be. Thanks, I have passed this info on to Master Balfour to check.FreeLitres said:

My lad's Seiko 5 does this. (The 2nd language also confused the hell out me at first).I almost returned a new Seiko as I thought they send me a wrong language version. When setting the time and running it through mid-night they do seem to take a few hours to get through the two languages on the day wheel. I read somewhere that when they are running normally they change much quicker but I never took the time to check.

Sounds like the hour hand may be slightly loose if it is changing day at random times. There are lots of youtube clips showing how to set the hands for your model of watch if you can find the 4 digit model number on the back - it will be 4R35 or 7S26 or something similar. Find a servicing video, and the last part will be where the hands are refitted and correctly set. It is possible to remove/reset the hands it with a minimal amount of tools. Is this anything that can be home fixed or not? The day changing language is because it is a dual language day wheel - usually pull the crown out to the middle position and adjust the day one click should get it back onto English.
